The Restoration Process Goes Into High Gear

The restoration process has entered a second phase. The Niagara Frontier Chapter recently joined forces with the Buffalo Maritime Center and moved their restoration shop from Rich Marine to the Maritime Center building on Arthur Street in Buffalo. The advantage to the new location is access to more advanced woodworking tools and the guidance of an experience boatwright, Roger Allen - Director of the Center. Much has happened since the move to the new location:
1. A plan of attack has been developed
2. First the boat was leveled
3. Bulkheads were put into place to retain the hull shape during restoration
4. The aft section was cleared: exhaust pipe, muffler, old unused through hull fittings, transom frames, rudder and rudder post, floor frames, and garboard planks.
5. The rotted portion of the keel can now be scarfed and removed.
