This is the largest restoration project I have ever undertaken. I am finally getting this project underway after start and stop attempts over the past few years. Getting the boat indoors has been a major boost to the project. In addition to getting the boat back in the water, I would love to trace back the ownership of the boat. With trips to the maritime museum in Mystic Connecticut and conversations with the Wyandotte Historical Society and Detroit Yacht Club I have narrowed the list of possible owners. At Mystic I went through old race programs and looked for entries for boat number 31, but nothing definitive. The fact that the forward cabin lockers had the DYC (Detroit Yacht Club) cast in brass, tells you that it had to be a prominent member at the club during that era. One of the ads indicated that 2 40' boats were being built that year for J.B. Farr President of Kermath Manufacturing Company and a 2nd to Commodore Alex J McLeod of Algonac, Michigan. She also has a brass seat across the stern, and in all the pictures I have examined, it appears to be unique to this boat.
If someone knows or has access to software that can blow pictures up without pixelating, we could read the name on the life ring and solve the mystery real quick!
